What is strategic planning?

Strategic planning is a process that guides and directs the ambition for the town's future and determine how best to achieve it. The primary purpose is to connect three key areas: your vision, mission and plan.

Strategic planning requires stepping back from our day-to-day operations, and even monthly operations, and articulating where the town is heading by setting long-term goals, objectives and priorities for the future. Strategic planning is necessary to determine the direction for the town. It focuses the efforts of Council and Administration to ensure everyone is working toward a common vision and goals. The strategic planning process determines the roadmap that will guide Council, Administration, budgeting, programming, events and more.

So what's the plan?

The town's current Strategic Plan: 2017 - 2022 is set to expire. Council and Administration have been working together during 2021 to review the current plan to update and extend our strategic plan to 2025, inclusively. That means that Council and Administration have been working to review and develop a vision, mission statement, values, strategic focus areas and now we want to get your input.

We are looking to gather feedback from White City residents and our regional neighbours to complete the strategic plan. Your input will help us finalize our vision, mission, values, focus areas and objectives. Your valuable feedback will also help us complete a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis to ensure that we are taking advantage of our strengths and opportunities and addressing our weaknesses and threats.
